Team 4099 is a student-led team that strives to create an inclusive learning community where students can apply their knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) to real-world problems.

FalconCamps and RoboCamps

Our team runs FalconCamps and RoboCamps, which focus on teaching essential programming and design skills. These camps offer students a high-quality STEM education, giving them hands-on experience in robotics and engineering principles. Participants learn to design, build, and program robots, culminating in an exciting final competition that showcases their skills.

FalconMath

FalconMath is another initiative where we teach Geometry and Algebra 2/Precalculus to rising 8th graders and freshmen. This camp helps students build a strong mathematical foundation, which is crucial for success in STEM fields. By addressing these subjects early, we prepare students for more advanced studies in high school and beyond.

Workshops and Mentorship

We conduct various workshops and mentoring programs to support other teams and enhance their capabilities. These workshops cover topics such as CAD design, programming, and robot construction. Our mentorship programs connect experienced team members with newcomers, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can learn and grow.

Community Engagement

Our team is actively involved in community engagement. We participate in local fairs and educational events to promote STEM among younger students. By showcasing our robots and sharing our experiences, we aim to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists. Events like Poolesville Day allow us to demonstrate our robots to the community, highlighting the exciting possibilities within STEM fields.

Promoting Inclusion

Support for Underrepresented Groups

We provide a welcoming environment for all members and actively support the growth and participation of underrepresented groups in STEM fields. Our team demographics include 95% minorities, 50% female, and 23% LGBTQ+ members, all of whom are encouraged to pursue FIRST-related careers. This diversity enriches our team and promotes a culture of inclusion and respect.

Advocacy

Through initiatives like Moco-Support, we advocate for greater resources and support for robotics teams, aiming to give equal opportunities for all teams. Our advocacy efforts focus on ensuring that all students, regardless of background, have access to the tools and support they need to succeed in STEM.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance

To ensure accessibility for all interested students and team members, we offer scholarships and financial assistance for our programs. These resources help remove financial barriers, allowing more students to participate in our camps and join our team. By providing this support, we strive to make STEM education inclusive and available to everyone.

Our team is dedicated to promoting STEM education and fostering an inclusive environment where all students can thrive. Through our camps, workshops, mentorship, and advocacy efforts, we aim to inspire and support the next generation of innovators and leaders in STEM.
