In order to pick up the large trackballs, Team 1771 used this big vacuum funnel to suction the balls. To push them out, there's 3 pneumatic cylinders inside the funnel to poke the ball off. It's all powered by a modified shop vac that runs with 2 motors.

Sometimes in the video, it looks like balls were finicky and had to be pushed up against a wall, but with 400+ lbs of force, it's plausible that balls could suck in on contact.
However, because it's big and heavy, it took a couple seconds to raise or lower balls. Combined with vacuum startup and inaccuracy in popping balls off, they wouldn't have had the most consistent cycles.
The drivetrain wheels are also surprisingly high, probably to try to lower the center of gravity.
